Potty Talk

We interrupt this blog to bring you some breaking news: Monday, December 5th, 2011: Chase pooped in the potty. I just wanted him to pee.

Overachiever.

Seriously, I am so excited and yet we still don't know how it really happened and I'm not sure I'm convinced it will happen again in the near future. ha ha I decided that I was going to crack down and try harder at potty training this week. He decided he would sit on the potty for me for about 20 minutes. I went to change the sheets in his crib and he came running in telling me he pooped in the potty. When I saw that he actually did, I couldn't believe it! We headed to Kroger for groceries and TWO matchbox cars: his potty prizes. Chase told everyone: the lady at the meat counter, the guy unloading frozen foods, the cashier and the bagger. At the post office, he got to ring their bell: TWICE. I was cracking up. It was an exciting day. Even more exciting that he peed that day too and has stayed dry since then. He's been in big boy underwear the past 3 days with the exception of naps and bedtime. He wore a diaper to My Gym and a library Christmas party last night and stayed dry during both trips. Yesterday he was dry from 8 am - 1 pm and again from 4:30-bedtime and when I checked him at 11 pm before I went to bed he was still dry. The not so good news is that he never went in the potty and instead went during his nap and during bedtime (which is fine at this age). I still consider it a success that he didn't have an accident yet I wish he would go when he needed to. Any tips? I fear he is "holding it" and I'm not sure that is a good thing.
Oh, and never say never when it comes to parenting: I have a clear cup of M&Ms on the counter so he can see. His motivator has been found!
His preferred area to potty? In front of the Christmas tree, of course, and who can blame him?

I have heard some FUNNY stuff from Chase these past few days including:
"Don't talk to me Mommy, I'm trying to potty."
"I am trying to do this."
and
"I need privacy."

This kid cracks me up!

I just got done reading your guest blog post at Small Bird Studios. It was wonderful getting to read about how to make a memory candle! I can't wait to try to make one this weekend in memory of our sweet Caroline!

Cute post too on the potty training. We also have a 3 year old that is in the midst of potty training!
