Strawberry Picking {2015}

Spencer Farms and strawberry picking is one of my favorite summer bucket list activities!

This was Will's first year actually "picking" and he LOVED it.

We went early and it got hot and the boys were ready to go after about an hour.

We brought home a little under eleven pounds this year.

We froze most of them, and had some with angel food cake that night. :)

Last Friday we met some friends at Spencer Farms for our 4th annual Strawberry picking playdate. (See past visits here!)

The weather was perfect, and we came home with 17 1/2 lbs of summer! :)

We ended up hulling and freezing most of it after making fruit leather and several jars of no refined sugar freezer jam!

Strawberry picking {and other summer fun}

Summertime has been full of lots of fun things so far! I am determined to make sure Chase's summer isn't too different than what it would normally be. So far we have stayed busy and little Will has been a trooper when out and about with us!

Strawberry Time!

Chase and his pals headed to Spencer Farm last week to do some strawberry picking. Last year when we picked strawberries it was soon after I had Christian, so I had some bittersweet feelings being back there. It ended up being SO nice. We had such great weather, went early, and got some great berries. I made a delicious and crazy easy strawberry pie that afternoon. I bought a store-bought crust so it was literally sugar, cornstarch and the berries into the shell to bake.

We are planning to go back because I want to make THIS!

How's that for "farm to table?" :)

Strawberry Picking

Chase and I met his buddies at Spencer Farms last week for an awesome day of strawberry picking! Chase wasn't sure what to think at first, but he got the hang of it. He loved picking up and throwing the hay of course that was in between each row, and then got into looking for the "red ones." I love the way he says strawberries: "strawbees." We had a fun picnic lunch with ice cream afterwards. We can't wait to go back again someday!
