Our trip was great! We were gone for 9 nights, 2 of those spent in hotels on the way there and back to break up the 14 hour trip. Wes and I were pretty nervous about how Chase was going to do in the car, but he was awesome! I had packed a huge bin of things to do: DVDs, snacks, CDs, crayons, snacks, color-magic markers, color your own puzzles, snacks, noise makers to drive Daddy crazy, oh the list goes on! Did I mention I had a lot of snacks? :) The van we rented (and I secretly fell in love with shhhh don't judge me) was great and we were able to pack everything except the kitchen sink.
We arrived on Saturday around 1 pm to the cottage and it was a rainy/cloudy day so we ended up doing the grocery shopping and just vegging out. The rest of the week was nothing but perfect sunshiny weather. We did a lot of hanging out at the beach near the cottage and at the Sea Island beach club where Chase LOVED the kiddie pool, playground and water fountain area. He also LOVED the beach! He would just run and run and run and laugh his head off. He wasn't sure about the water and waves at first but near the end of the week he would go full steam ahead into the water and we would have to catch him before he got in too deep! Wild man! It was sad to leave but also good to be home and back into our normal routine. Chase had a few early mornings while we were there (the earliest being 5:45 am - ouch!) and we are happy to report he's back to his 7:30 pm to 7:30 am sleep schedule.
Here are just a few of the MANY photos we took just getting there! :)
The van: loaded down!
